Artists all over the world have found new ways to collaborate and stay engaged during the Covid-19 lockdown, which has naturally been hard on the creative communities. Namit Das + Anurag Shanker have stayed busy as well - recreating signature versions of classic film and pop songs with the band spread out between Mumbai and Montreal to uplift spirits, alongside live streaming shows to raise funds for causes close to their hearts.

One of the more significant streaming shows - a showcase curated by Horus Music India for Liverpool Soundcity Festival, resulted in the duo finding a way to curate a tailormade set in their organic electro avatar that features voice, electric guitar and samples. The result was a rare and unique journey through their discography of inspirations, nostalgia, and history via a seamless twenty minute ambient electronic landscape rooted in Indian music culture.

Returning to their vibrant core material, Namit Das + Anurag Shanker deliver what possibly is the first official live lockdown release from the Indian independent music space. Also included are two tracks from their unplugged performance for Taalbelia Folk Alive which was viewed across the Indian subcontinent and abroad and raised funds for folk artistes from Rajasthan,IN.

The release marks the debut for the tracks ‘Khamoshi’, ‘Pi Bin Aayi’ and ‘Ud Jayega Hans Akela’ which have been a part of the bands live set for a while but will be heard on an official release for the first time.

We are locked in but science allows us to reach outward anyway. Namit Das + Anurag Shanker present LIVE FROM THE INSIDES.
